Ali Fazal & Sonali Bendre to headline Paatal Lok director Prosit Roy’s next action series? Here’s what we know

An OTT giant, Amazon Prime is diving into the action genre with a new, untitled thriller series starring Ali Fazal, known for his breakout role in Mirzapur, in a completely new action-oriented avatar. Ali Fazal will be joined by Sonali Bendre, of Sarfarosh and The Broken News fame, in a pivotal role.

According to PeepingMoon, the series promises a blend of intense drama and dynamic storytelling. While plot details are tightly guarded, industry insiders hint at an ensemble cast filled with popular OTT stars. Directing the project is Prosit Roy, who co-directed the critically acclaimed first season of Paatal Lok, praised for its gritty narrative. The series is produced by Endemol Shine India, known for producing compelling content such as Trial By Fire, Aarya, and Bombay Begums.

The show marks a significant step for Roy, following the delayed release of his previous directorial effort, Chakda Xpress starring Anushka Sharma. Ali Fazal is set to begin filming after completing his work on Raj & DK’s Netflix series, Rakt Bramhand. The actor has a busy year ahead, with several film releases including Anurag Basu’s long-awaited Metro… In Dino, Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947 starring Sunny Deol, Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, and the Hollywood film Rule Breakers. He is also expected to begin production on Mirzapur: The Film in the second half of 2025.
